The UAE continues to work with the IAEA
on enhancing the application of nuclear techniques in the medical field. Two
activities were organized with the IAEA on a national and regional level and
one in cooperation with th Cooperative Agreement of Arab States in Asia for
Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (ARASIA).
The first activity allowed for the
revision and advising of
guidelines and procedures
in Radiology with the focus on Quality Assurance and radiation safety in
different hospitals in the UAE.
The second brought together participants
from the region to learn about individual dosimetry and on service providers
accreditation in the UAE. A third Expert Mission was held to assist the health
authorities to establish a PET/CT facility, QUANUM framework.
