UAE Continuously Supports the IAEA’s SAGNE

On 14 to 17 June, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) hosted the annual meeting of its Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy (SAGNE) in Vienna, Austria.
A member of SAGNE, UAE Ambassador Hamad Alkaabi, Permanent Representative to the IAEA, provided the experience of the UAE as a nuclear newcomer country that has been working with the Agency to develop a nuclear power programme.

Established in 2000, SAGNE advises the Director General on the Agency’s activities in the areas of nuclear power, nuclear fuel cycle and waste technology, and on matters concerning the assessment of the role of nuclear power in sustainable energy development.

Currently, SAGNE's sixth term is under the chairmanship of Mr Per Lindell, who will serve from 2016 to 2018, and conduct one meeting per year.
