Joint work towards developing a regional emergency response plan in the Gulf region

From 8-12 May, a senior official from the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) participated in a regional workshop in Amman, Jordan, to share knowledge and experiences on self-assessment efforts related to emergency preparedness and response.
The Regional Workshop to discuss the Results of Self-Assessment and Develop Action Plan was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the framework of its Technical Cooperation (TC) programme.

Under the framework of the ARASIA project on Strengthening ARASIA Radiological and Nuclear Emergency Response and Preparedness Capacity (RAS9084), participating States will strengthen their cooperation and information exchange to develop effective preparedness and response to nuclear or radiological emergencies.

Experts from emergency preparedness and response (EPR) entities of the region discussed best practices and reviewed opportunities to strengthen national systems in managing nuclear and radiological emergencies.

Based on detailed analyses from country’s self-assessments, an action plan will be developed to address the EPR areas for improvement within the region.
