UAE Ambassador Hamad Alkaabi, Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), attended the annual meetings of the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Corporation (IFNEC) in Paris, France, from 9-10 May 2016.
IFNEC hosted a series of meetings aimed at fostering cooperation on the development of the peaceful use of nuclear energy in a manner that meets the highest standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation. The Steering Group and Infrastructure Development Working Group (IDWG) meetings reviewed matters of priority and discussed the planning of up-coming IFNEC activities. The IDWG meeting also highlighted the accomplishments of the Working Group towards global expansion of nuclear power in a safe and secure manner.
IFNEC is a unique framework that brings together 65 countries with different technical and economical stages of development in different geographical areas. The UAE believes that nuclear energy will continue to play a significant role in the global energy sector.
