In February the IAEA Education and Training Appraisal (EduTA) Mission took place in the UAE under the framework of the Integrated Work Plan (IWP). To consolidate the agency's support provided to the UAE's nuclear power programme in an integrated manner, the UAE concluded the IWP with IAEA in 2013.
The EduTA Mission evaluated the UAE national education and training infrastructure, in terms of the legislative framework, national policy and strategy, and training capabilities, in radiation protection, related to all practices involving exposure to ionizing radiation. Eleven entities participated in the EduTA questionnaire like the Ministry of Interior and Health, the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi, Emirates Nuclear Energy Cooperation and a couple of Universities. The entities participated furthermore to understand the development in radiation protection training.
