IFNEC Participants met in Vienna to discuss further steps and activities

The International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation’s Infrastructure Development Working Group (IDWG) and Reliable Nuclear Fuels Services Working Group (RNFS) held meetings on April 15 and 16 at the Vienna International Center in Austria.

 
 
Ambassador Hamad Alkaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA joined the group of special speakers to the IDWG working group meeting held on Monday.
 
In the course of the IDWG meeting, which included discussions on topics in the areas of human resource development, radioactive waste management, physical protection, emergency preparedness and non-proliferation, the UAE presentation delivered by Ambassador Alkaabi has focused on national funding for developing a nuclear infrastructure.
 
The IDWG meeting was aimed at the exchange of information on results of the IDWG activities among the participant countries, and sharing experiences on perspectives from infrastructure development support providers as well as identification of next-steps, and focus areas for IDWG activities.
 
The International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC), former the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) is a partnership of countries aiming to ensure that new nuclear initiatives meet the highest standards of safety, security and non-proliferation.
 
Today the IFNEC consists of 31 participant countries, 3 permanent international observers, and 31 observer countries.
