UAE Permanent Mission attends the Panel Discussion with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

This year marks 20 years since the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) was open for signature, creating a de-facto international norm on nuclear testing. The Treaty has yet to enter into force. 

On 27 April, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon held a panel discussion on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The event was held in Vienna, Austria, at the headquarters of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), and included the participation of media representatives, Non-governmental organizations, youth community and many others. The UAE Permanent Mission also joined the event in support of the Treaty. 

The panel discussion also was open to the global public via media coverage, live-stream and social media. The UN Secretary-General highlighted during his speech the need for the entry into force of the CTBT and answered questions from the audience and global community via social media.
