Sherpas for the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit Met in The Hague

The Hague Sous – Sherpa Meeting was held to prepare for the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit, with more than 100 Sherpas and Sous- Sherpas from 53 countries and four international organizations (UN, IAEA, EU, and INTERPOL), on 3 - 5 April 2013.

The third Nuclear Security Summit will take place on 24 - 25 March 2014 in the Netherlands, to discuss the response to nuclear terrorism, protection of nuclear materials and facilities, prevention of the illegal trafficking of nuclear materials, as well as improving international cooperation.

The 2014 Nuclear Security Summit is a follow-up of the previous summits to review the progress achieved. In doing so, the 2014 Summit will outline the accomplishments of the past two years through evaluating the objectives set out in the Washington Working Plan and the Seoul Communiqué. It also intends to find ways for further achievements.

The last 2012 Nuclear Security Summit held in Seoul has continued enhancing the political commitments consolidated in the 2010 Washington Nuclear Security Summit.
